  3.   ACCOMPANIST - A 16 Voice Sequencer.
  4.   -----------------------------------

  6.      ACCOMPANIST is a 16 Voice Sequencer for use on any model  of 
  7. ATARI ST.  It works with either monochrome or colour monitors. On 
  8. a 520 there is room for over 10,000 notes (note-on + note-off  or 
  9. other MIDI event), and on a 1040 up to 60000 notes.
  10.      The design was heavily influenced by David Mellor's hypothe-
  11. tical 'Ideal Sequencer' which appeared in the October 1988  issue 
  12. of the Sound on Sound magazine.  Many thanks to him for a lot  of 
  13. useful  and elegant ideas.  I hope he will approve of the  single 
  14. note/chord  editing  feature which I have fitted on  top  of  his 
  15. concepts.
  16.      ACCOMPANIST uses the high level GEM event timing system  via 
  17. MODULA-2,   so  the  timing  accuracy  is  adequate  rather  than 
  18. brilliant, with a target resolution of 96 beats per quarter note.

  20.      The  file  TUTORIAL.TXT  gives  a  simple  introduction   to 
  21. using  ACCOMPANIST,  and the file MANUAL.TXT contains a  complete 
  22. description.  The  file  VERSION2.4 contains details  about   bug 
  23. fixes  and new features.  All *.MID files are music that  can  be 
  24. played by ACCOMPANIST.

  33.    ACCOMPANIST  is  distributed  as  Shareware.  If  you  use  it 
  34. regularly,  then you are requested to register.  You can register 
  35. by writing to the address below.

  38.      1) The most uptodate version of ACCOMPANIST(6.1+).  See  the 
  39. VERSION2.4 file for details of new features.
  40.      2) Over 500K of new MIDI music.
  41.      3)  MIDI Music Maker.  A Music File conversion and  Juke-box 
  42. utility.  It  converts  files from other sequencers such  as  the 
  43. Music Construction Set,  so that they can be used by ACCOMPANIST. 
  44. It also plays selections, and has many other useful functions.
  45.      4)  SATELLITE.  A utility/desk accessory for  managing  MIDI 
  46. System Exclusive dumps.  This enables user specified  Synthesiser 
  47. Voices  plus  many  other Synthesiser features to  be  saved  and 
  48. restored using disk files.
  49.      5) Various documents about MIDI.
  50.      6) Support for MIDI/Technical queries.

  84. upgrades, TOS release if known, any other hardware mods, Run-Time

  101.    I  developed  this program as an  accompanist  for  my  wife's 
  102. singing.   A  recent illness left me only able to play  my  piano 
  103. with  one  hand,  so I replaced the piano with  a  CASIO  HT-3000 
  104. attached  to my 1040.  The program was developed over the last  3 
  105. years.  It has proved a great therapy after having to retire from 
  106. 15 years working in the computer industry.

  119.     I  have a small library of classical choral music  (about  40 
  120. pieces),  which  I have recorded using ACCOMPANIST for my  wife's 
  121. choir.   The  choir  disk also has a few large  pieces  of  music 
  122. including the Moonlight Sonata. If you are interested, please let

  128.     The Author grants permission for clubs and  other  non-profit 
  129. organizations  to copy this program and documentation subject  to 
  130. the following conditions.
  131.      1.  No  price is to be charged for either  the  software  or

  133. pounds total may be imposed for covering the cost of the disk.
